Girl's softball coach getting ousted? Why?
Still trying to figure out what happened to Baseball coach getting ousted. Coach of the year award, multiple championships, final 4 appearance in division 1. Why was he pushed out the door? School committee have answers for that?

I believe the Steve Day should continue being our johnston high softball coach because I would have never learned nearly as much about the sport of softball, and could not see a better coach taking his place.

The fact that there is a petition for coach steve to be reappointed blows my mind. There shouldn't be a doubt in anyone's mind if he should be coaching or not. This man has dedicated his life to softball and become more of a father than a coach to many lucky players, including myself, that have had the opportunity to play for him. Don't take a good thing for granted. You're not going to find a more dedicated person to ever fill his spot.

Coach Steve does a great job with the girls. Always the first one at the field and the last one to leave.

Our kids need and deserve positive, dedicated roll models to push them to be their best not only for themselves but for the greater good. They seem to have this in their Coach. It would be a shame to take that from them.

Thru all the kids I know have the utmost respect for Coach Day I urge the school committe to reverse their decision and retain Coach Day. I believe by not reversing your decision would adversely impact on your successful program.

As someone who has played under Coach Day's coaching, I can safely say this is crazy. He has been nothing but a kind and fair coach who certainly doesn't deserve to be treated like this.

As a softball player for the high school team I have nothing but respect for Coach Steve. There's no reason why he sold not be our coach

My daughter does not attend JHS, but does play on Mr Day's College Showcase club team. I can't say enough about the growth as an athlete, team mate, and young woman that she has attained in his program. Fair, firm, honest, thorough, positive, and appropriately light hearted are how I can best describe his program. I could not imagine my daughter playing anywhere else. It would be a great loss for the Johnston Lady Panthers if this fine coach and gentleman was not brought back to coach.

I don't think it's a good idea to get rid of these coaches in general none of them deserve it. They treat the girls right and unless there is a better coach to appoint and not just someone's father or a volunteer with some experience then the coach should be allowed to stay. I'm saying this as a cousin of a player and as an alumni who doesn't want to see these coaches go the girls are doing this for a reason.

Coach Steve was the best coach I could have asked for. He wasn't a coach who played favoritism, he was a coach who played players who deserved to be on the field. JHS will be truly missing a very generous man. Let him come back!

As a member of the RI Aftershock travel softball program, I can confirm that Coach Day is not only dedicated and passionate to the teams he coaches, but also one of the most knowledgeable coaches I've come across in my 11 years' experience in softball. Letting him go would be a disservice to the Johnston team and community.

It would be a great lose to Johnston is they don't re-appoint Coach Steve. My daughter is coached by him and Thanks to him has learned a lot, not just in softball.

Coach Steve is a great coach. He has taught me so much, not just in the game of softball but in life too. He has taught me to never get down on myself and to stay strong no matter what happens in life. He is always there for me when I need somebody. Being on his travel team for a few years now he has become a fatherly figure and I am beyond glad I decided to join his team.

He is such a kind person!! Loved getting to know him and his humerous self! BRING HIM BACK! He loves what he does and he is good at it! I got to know him when I volunteered to help out Mario Nasis with the Girls Softball last year. He is a great person!
