The Majority of Seward Park Shareholders Demand The Sale of Our Air Rights

I think that if the building group offered us 3 more million for the lobbies it would have passed. The money that was offered (1 million) is ridiculous for 4 lobbies. We need at least 1 million for EACH lobby.

I think one thing that hurt the first vote was all the scare tactics from both sides. Don't tell people what they are going to lose, lay out rational arguments for being financial responsible by voting yes.

That was also a problem the board needs to be more courageous and open

From talking with neighbors it seems the refusal of our manager to disclose exactly how the funds would have been used was a major issue. This is a co-op. Not a condo.

You are correct. We should re-word this. Stay tuned. Thank you

The most effective way to convince the minority to change its mind is through the use of rational arguments and a cost/benefit analysis that emphasizes gains over losses. Many people had legitimate reasons for voting against this; characterizing them as "selfish and misinformed" (even if some of us feel this way) serves only to increase defensiveness and undermine efforts to shift the balance of votes. I support the sale of air rights and am signing this petition, but we need a strategy that increases rather than decreases the likelihood that opponents (a large minority of 42%) will be receptive to counterarguments. Thank you for initiating this petition.

Get involved - send to those whom you believe agree, but may not have this petition. Send us their email address. Get 400-600 signatures and the Board will have to act

Thank you for taking the time to set this up. I am happy to help to get more people to vote the next time. The apathy of the shareholders that did not take the time to vote on such an important matter is both shocking and and appalling.

It is simply a petition to ask the board to act.

I've seen what convoluted vote counting processes can result in. Count the votes and reward the decision to the majority.

This does not appear to be in the form of notice proper to call a meeting by the shareholders. Is it supposed to be?

The by-law should be voted on to only a simple majority, 50% +1

The buildings are going up anyway and the incremental difference of building with air rights does not outweigh the opportunity to fund our necessary infrastructure repairs.
