I am not against change I just think it can be done more tastefully that will show our towns heritage. Building the structure out of brick would be a huge difference and the people who build it would take pride in knowing they are apart of keeping the history alive.I may not live in town anylonger but I do have pride in where I come from and when I visit Iike to be transported back in time to the places not only I treasure but my parents, grandparents and great grandparents .

Council has a responsibility to the community to uphold the heritage designation.
The business OR heritage argument is a red herring. There are many examples of progressive development and adaptive reuse that serve both the public interest and make good business sense.
Additionally, the preservation of historic buildings is not just culturally beneficial, but can have an economic return in terms of jobs, property values, heritage tourism, environmental benefit, and neighborhood revitalization.

I have written into the council the developers should be fines for starting to demolish the mcgibbon and forced to reinstate. At there own cost.

This will change the face of Down Town beyond recognition. It will be a blight on the landscape. We are not and I hope we will never be Brampton!

I am in favour of progress however; unlike the simpathetic renovation of the Cultural Centre/Library; this design has morphed into a structure totally unsuitable for our historic downtown core.

Bait and switch is the practice of town council. The dinosaurs on council should have been removed last election!!!

Repair and rebuild...don't tear down and re-do with glass! Save another of our Heritage buildings from disappearing!
