Since moving to St. Catharines 2 years ago Sunset Beach has become one of my favourite spots. It is a great place to swim and spend time with family and friends. There are already a few volleyball courts set up at the beach and it would be a shame to waste so much of the rest of it on more courts. I've seen yoga classes being held at the beach, family picnics, people throwing a football around. There is plenty of space now for people to use the beach for all kinds of recreational activities. Please don't take that away from us for the purposes of a select few.

Leave the beaches alone, politicians who attempt to take away one of the only things us residents have left should be remembered at election time

I heard the Mayor state on 610 radio that this is a not for profit group that will ‘program’ the volleyball courts on the beach. No mention of the weekday day camps not the 3 – 4 weekend tournaments a month. Sure they are a not for profit but was Michigan Beach not lost years ago to the not for profit corporation Dalhousie Yacht Club?

Please do not cave to private interest groups again!! This is a public beach much loved by nearby residents and should stay as such. Shame on council for even considering such an application.

I used to live on Cherie Road and took my dog for walks down this beach almost every day for four years. It was always full of all kinds of people enjoying the beauty of nature. The beach should remain in the hands of the people!
