There is always someone who wants to profit . This is the type of thing the city should be running for free to keep the locals in great health. Tennis courts ,volley ball,baseball,playgrounds and especially beaches that are limited as it is without paying large amounts of money when privatized.

With regards to the permanent installation of 12 volleyball beach courts at the newly renamed "Sunset Beach"...
It is of my opinion that the health and safety concerns far out way the positive that may come from the permanent installation of the proposed 12 volleyball beach courts.
1. The health and safety concerns regarding the number of public washrooms required to facilitate the number of people is already at a deficiency and an issue.
There is only 1 water closet (toilet) provided for males and females for public use at the moment for both the public' use of the beach and the park. This is not enough to accommodate the already 100 to 150 plus people that frequent the beach at any one time. And no, portable toilets are not a permanent solution to the increased number of people frequenting the public beach and public park and now the proposed Volleyball activity. Then there is the proposal to increase occupant load at the beach for the volleyball activity by at least 50 to 100 extra people (12 courts @ 2 players + 24 parents + 2 coaches + 2 tournament officials + spectatators to support the various teams playing at the tournaments).
2. Parking and parking enforcement is another issue. The increase in traffic is increasing becoming a problem for the "walking" community that Port Weller West has become; with adults, children and pets already walking on roads that have little to no sidewalks.
The City of St. Catharines need to invest some money into the parking lot so that they can provide safe parking and circulation for the public as there are many moving factors that require attention. Properly designed and marked parking spots so that parking inforcement can efficiently do their job. A properly planned parking lot will encompass proper circulation for pedistrians moving to and from the washrooms that desperately require upgrading to accommodate the increaseing public load.

Keep public assets public. Don't let this council do to Port Weller what their predecessors did to Port Dalhousie. 15 years of destruction with no future in sight. What's next? Private bars like Toronto's Beach.

Our parks are overrun with organized sports to the point it is hard to have a family game of ball or a picnic, please don't take away our last public beach as well.

If this happens does it mean the Rapids Organization is going to be responsible for up keep on the beach they occupy or are our tax dollars going to be used. No to privatization.

Add an extra court at Port Dalhousie, but the beach is not to be private or for pay. Its supposed to be enjoyed by anyone anytime

This is one of only two public beaches in St. Catharines that we have left. We already lost one near Port Dalhousie (DYC side) to private development ... No More ! If Councel wants to keep there seats they might want to rethink this kind of monitzation of PUBLIC LAND.

Noticed this year the improvement of the conditions of this beach and the huge increase of people enjoying it. A natural treasure that needs to be used by everyone, any time.
