As someone who was involved in this program during my high school career at NHS I can honestly say it was a big motivator for me to attend classes daily. The thought of not performing due to poor attendance and grades kept me in line and I graduated in the top 15% of my class.

Theatre in high schools is not an extra--it is a necessity. The students deserve more than a part-time position dedicated to their education.

The NHS Theatre is excellent in what they do. From preforming to stage production.

Well written. The passion of the students responsible for writing this petition is evidence of the ethic instilled in them by Mr. Rixner. He has taught them how powerful a voice can be. I fully support the effort to keep North's Theatre department in tact. You can not expect the same caliber of performance by diminishing the position in such away.

This program has changed so much for me, and I can't think of north high school without the program staying as it stands. Future generations need to experience the program Mr. Rixner has made for us all.

This is messed up. They should cut down on the amount of people walking around the school. This man has put so many years into North when he didn't have to!

Mr.Rixner is a magnificent instructor, director, and mentor. He will forever be in my heart because he not only taught me to act but gave me inspiration and a love for who I truly am. Please do not cut his hours to part time because Mr.Rixner is too great of a teacher and it would be unfortunate for students to not have him there full time for complete support and advise that any student, especially any theatre arts students needs from him.

I had a great time participating in NHS Theatre back in my day. HS would not have been the same without that experience. Those times made a positive impact on my life and I have great memories from all of the shows and events we produced. SAVE NHS Theatre!

My son was an introvert who barely got by in school. Then he joined Drama. Mark Rixner and my son didn't always see eye to eye, but he made a positive impact on him. That's just one kid. How many others has he helped.
The drama program at North is one of the best in the state and you want to cut that? Why? Cut something or someone else, but not Mark Rixner.

Not every child is meant to be a part of sports. This program gives kids confidence to be themselves and helps build life long friendships. Shame on them for trying to make it a half time program. Next thing you know all the funding will be cut. Keep music/drama and the fine arts in our schools!

My best memories and closest friends from high school came from classes and events with Mr. Rixner's drama classes. One of my biggest regrets was not spending all four years within the program, as Mr. Rixner is one of the most personable and determined teachers I've ever known. He insists on correct instruction and collaborating with students to make productions the best they can be. North High school would not be what it is today without the contributions of Mark Riner and the fine arts team.
