I do not have children, but if I am to be paying taxes to this school district, than I want my tax dollars to go the the community I belong to.
I DO NOT support the rezoning. If I choose to donate outside of my community, than that is my right, but the district does not have the right to take my hard earned money and place it somewhere else.

When one of our new neighbors informed us of this recent move by the KISD, they were under the impression it only affected the Cape Cods. That's not how Templeton presented it to the Trustees...unless I read that wrong, it affects Heritage northwest of Park Vista and Shiver.
So, if the bureaucrats do this, do we get to immediately pay lower taxes?

Q: How did LSE suddenly become "crowded" in an established neighborhood, Mr. Baker?
Like others, we recently sold our house specifically because of the 2014 bond to move to Heritage. We paid a premium, (and ensuing higher taxes), because of schools like LSE.
Templeton Demographics' founder Bob Templeton got a nice contract from KISD, (where he was the Coordinator of Demographics for...the KISD). Reminds me of Senators who retire to "consult" for lobbyists.
Furthermore, the KISD has already gerrymandered the feeder patterns since 2014 bond. Quit tinkering, for God's sake!
According to the Templeton website, Jeff Baker is supposedly an expert in economic data, who coordinates with local builders & realtors. If that's true, he knows exactly what this move will do to your property values. So, he is either not an expert, or doesn't care...really only 2 explanations.
Which gets to my original question, "How did LSE suddenly become crowded in an already developed neighborhood?" (Student-Teacher ratio 16-1, uptick in teacher hiring in FY2014-2015, etc.)

I recently moved to this neighborhood because of the GREAT school pattern. I am so excited to be in this community and want my children to go to school with the friends they play with at Heritages many parks and pools. DO NOT divide this tight knit community!!

Makes no sense to have an Elmentary school in walking distance of your house to needing to take a bus. Would bussing be provided? Imagine traffic down Ray White that stop sign already backs up!

Please don't rezone! Changing schools will lower our property values!!!!!!!!! People with young children move to places with great schools. I am not sure if Friendship is a great school, but it is not rated as one and that will truly hurt the home values in Cape Cod.

We have always sent pur kids to private school, but can see that the re-zoning of the kids from Lone Star is a very bad decision for Heritage residents.

Slightly off topic but if you are in Heritage and don't know about nextdoor.com (I didn't until today!) it is yet another GREAT part of our community! Basically a social media, classified, announcement based forum for JUST OUR NEIGHBORS AND US!! How cool is that!? How informative! This issue has been raised along with other equally informative, interesting, relative topics that concern our community! Check it out!

We bought our home because it was zoned for Lone Star elementary. We researched schools and picked that one specifically. We wouldn't have bought this house and this area if it was zoned for another school.

We have people covering Cassidy, Bass, Bacon, Keating, Shields, & McCauley, O'Brien Way and a couple of more, as of now. These are our "started on" streets and people are spreading out as they can and we will keep you updated here as we cover other areas/streets. We need as much help as we can get, in whatever capacity you can give it! I think for the few hours effort we made AMAZING headway!

We have not had a single person that we have approached, whether in the "capes" or the "bricks" of Heritage, refuse to sign either the paper petition or the e-petition! THANK YOU HERITAGE!!!! Many people have offered their tips,their time, their thoughts and opinions when approached and been VERY forthcoming that they WILL UNITE and FIGHT THIS! We have had people emailing, texting and calling to ask how they can help even if it's just to say they WILL attend the meeting and THEY WILL sign our petition! As always, I am astonished at the sheer number of AMAZING people we have in this community and at how lucky my family and I are to be a part of it!

The first thing we looked at when we purchased our home was the schools our children would be attending. We want the very best for our children and it is clear that the best is Lone Star Elementary. Please leave things the way they are!
