I agree with each opposition listed. I do not think Salem does not need another bar, but if it does this is not appropriate. It is a family centered gathering place that is already very busy and congested.

I don't live in Salem but the Willows has been a place we came and come as a family...serving alcohol would destroy that for many of us, both residents and non residents.

My partner and I live across the street from the Willows. Our neighbors agree with us that the serving of alcohol in our neighborhood would bring serious problems to the park and to the safety of the neighborhood in general. It would severely increase the potential of drunk drivers in an area where children often cross the street between the park and arcade. It would also practically guarantee that drunk patrons would wander into the park leaving trash and damaging foliage and other city property.
Also, with the ledge running over the beach, as well as the newly opened peer being at the park, it would severely increase the likelihood of intoxicated patrons hurting themselves and possibly drowning.
The Willows has always been a family-friendly environment and a safe place for children to play with very little worry for their safety. Please reconsider allowing any businesses the ability to sell alcohol here. Any money earned from the resulting tax income would not be worth the destructive costs that would come with them.

This is a bad idea as it will attract problematic people from near and far. Do y'all really want gangs? Drugs? Fights? Maybe a body found in the water? Do y'all really want hundreds of bikes and cars doing burnouts throughout the nights? Do y'all really want more DUI’s? Do y'all really want the licensing board to shut it down and have it all be for nothing? As is people already being liquor and consume while acting stupid. They’ll be a shooting out two ounce the wrong crowd’s start showing up. Then what? The establishment does the old “it’s not our fault, it happened outside. E we shouldn’t be blamed” yada yada ya. The Willows is a family fun and friendly section of Salem and even then it still draws problems from punks who “think” they’re the main character but as is it’s controlled. Sore an alcohol establishment and the willows, families and friends will suffer. Do y’all really think one cop or a security guard doing detail? It’s a no all around for me and everyone else that signed.

There must have been a worse idea than that of having live bands (at 12 AM in a residential neighborhood) combined with serving alcohol to people throwing axes, but I dare say not I nor anyone else can remember when that worse idea was ever voiced nor by whom.

As a current resident on fort ave with a teenage daughter I highly disapprove of having anything of the sort down in the willows. I’ve lived on fort ave for over 10 years. There is already a lot of problems with people trying to break into our vehicles. Vandalism through out the park, including empty alcohol bottles and nips. Drag racing at night throughout the summer. People drifting through out the winter. There are ample amount of kids in the area that have school during the week. The last thing any of us in the neighborhood needs are drunk people staying all night and making there own parties outside of their cars ( mind you this is something we are still having issues with throughout EVERY SUMMER) . Giving people a reason to post up late in the area even more, truly isn’t needed here. If everything that I’ve listed STILL can’t be control by the SPD it DEFINITELY won’t be controlled then and it would only cause more problems.
