President Yvonne Walker recently argued to expedite LAPS training for candidates to become stewards in a newly organized bargaining unit that had no stewards. It was done mainly on Zoom. Then to deny other bargaining units who have no stewards in many buildings is hypocritical. I demand that President Walker treat every bargaining unit fairly and open up LAPS to train more job stewards.

I was accepted for LAPS training last summer and was scheduled to begin training. It was cancelled. I contacted the MRC to find out why and was told it was not approved by the State of CA Human Resource as it was not part of our contract. I passed this on to my union organizer but never got a clarification but was considered to be a steward even though I never received the training. Can't even get a straight answer from my own Union.

I have 4 people ready for LAPS. Two are acting officers that only need to complete their shadow week and two ready to become stewards. Let start LAPS!

I am a new hire. On the recommendation of a union brother I'm signing this. Many of my colleagues were hired in the last 2 years, but lack basic info about the union or their rights. None of my coworkers knew who their rep or steward was. It took me several months to track down someone connected to our DLC. I'd like to train in the LAPS program to help reverse that and make local 1000 strong in my department.

The LAPS program is essential and "represents" a path forward to sound "steward"ship and leadership in the union.

Many retirements and illnesses is leading to a dearth of stewards and receiverships of DLCs in Local 1000.

I would love to see the LAPS training on ZOOM. The technology is easy and the conversion from class to the web should be easy. The shadowing is obviously the challenge, but we always have the war stories that are very informative.

I was able to complete the LAPS program while fighting stage 3 cervical cancer and it has kept me moving towards a goal for the last year. I would hate to see this opportunity leave for any reason, now more than ever we need STEWARDS!

LAPS is important for getting new stewards up and running. The more stewards there are, the more of a presence the Union can have as the work world changes.
