Name Public Park in Egleston Square after Robert G. Lawson

Its a great idea,

He was a man of tremendous character who treated everyone fair, with respect and dignity. A man that positively impacted everyone he encountered.

I think this is a great idea, Robert Lawson and the Lawson family have been staples in the community for many, many years. They've taken care of people, kept them looking good and were great examples of entrpreneurship and love of community and people.

I vote yes on it. It's only right that his work over the years help his community.

Mr. Lawson gave me my start as a hair stylist in 1984 fresh out of hair school. Been doing hair since.

Mr. Lawson deserves this memorial. I'm sure his family will be honoured.

About three and a half years ago, I wrote an e-mail to both Egleston Square Main Street and Egleston Square Neighborhood Association, City Councilor Matt O'Malley, and City Councilor Tito Jackson about naming either a new development building in Egleston Square in Mr. Lawson's name in order to keep his legacy alive; that was before his passing. I also suggested that if not a building, then, perhaps a Square might be name in his honor. He was my friend, and had been the owner of the Lawson Barbershop for 45 years, and his costumers spent many of their dollars shopping in the stores in Egleston Square when in the area. Furthermore, at any given time he employed twelve hair stylist, plus maintenance . This goodhearted gentleman never turned any person down who was in need of help --those with and those without. Well, today we are at the place where in a few month the green-space [ the stony lot] on the corner of Washington Street and Columbus Avenue will Official be dub the "Robert G. Lawson Place." It took a while for my proposer to take roots; but I want to thank everyone who help this project come true Thank y'all.

This should be a given. When you think Egleston, you think Lawson's barbershop. I think it's only right to honor the man who remained a staple in this community and dedicated his services for so many years. There should without question be a landmark in the community named after him.
