I have seen the lack in FUNDING for classrooms & learning equipment in the Industrial arts classes. It’s a disgrace that Teachers need to take up a Second or Third job just to be able to buy the tools needed to teach their students when the funding IS THERE, but ISN’T being Given to the teachers that need it! Shameful! Students can’t learn their specific trade that they’re PAYING the school to teach them!!! As a parent of a student at UH Hilo, I am furious that the students do not have adequate learning tools or enough tools for their classroom participation. Students, their families & their instructors SHOULD BE GIVEN the adequate TOOLS in their Classrooms in order to learn. If a student fails because there’s not adequate or Working Equipment in their classrooms, why should the chancellors keep their jobs? The funding for working equipment & tools are not being replaced when they don’t work. Students shouldn’t be forced to share equipment or have a class broken down to meet the needs of everyone. The school should be providing those MONIES towards their careers, not into their pockets. Why are our students & teachers suffering while the big shots calling the shots keep all the money?

As a employee at HCC I agree that Rachel Solemsaas is unfit to continue to be the Chancellor of Hawaii Community College. The lack of transparency is egregious and the favoritism is rampant and needs to stop immediately

Abuse of power and corruption in the administration at Hawaii Community College is a community issue. It directly impacts the future of educational opportunities for future generations.

During this time of COVID and huge budget cuts, poor performance and failing leadership require new leaders ASAP!

Enough is enough. After four plus years of lies, deception, gaslighting, and broken promises, HawCC and the Big Island deserve better
