The Constitution is for both liberals and conservatives, and actually anybody in between as well. No official should go against it.

It is a sad day when our elected officials state their own narrow-minded views as those of the constituents they represent.

Meade County is going to be looking at some very large lawsuits that will increase my taxes for this man's outrageous political beliefs. As a public servant his job does not allow him to stop his constituents from exercising their rights to marriage or registration of property's. Get this idiot out of office, or you could be looking for job also at the next election.

This man represents his religion only, not his position. He is legally obligated now to follow the law of the LAND, not his personal religious beliefs. He has tainted not only his position but all of Meade County and is causing South Dakota to receive negative attention on a national level.

His words are egregious for a public official to have said in a public setting and "official release". He is entitled to whatever opinion he wishes to have, but to express that opinion as the county's is not responsible.

His whinny rant equated to nothing short of a tantrum from a petulant child who didn't get what he wanted. He is clearly biased and I see no reason to believe he would act in the best interests of South Dakotaians who don't agree with his believes.

Bigots alway cry the loudest. He is right Liberals don't stop. Liberals continue to push for progress always. Liberals can be thanked for ending slavery, getting women the ability to vote, social security, ending segregation, beginning medicare and medicaid and welfare....to name just a few of the great steps forward that our nation has taken.

Mr. Akins is an embarrassment to South Dakota. I was born and raised in Meade County. I am not a second class citizen. ALL people should be able to be treated with respect in Meade County, especially by our elected officials.
