The name Rebels is not synonymous with racism, the Confederacy, or any of that other nonsense. It should not be changed based on this ridiculous hype that is spreading across our nation based on a few loud people trying to gain popularity by complaining about it.

My family are graduates from James F. Byrnes and my grandson is enrolled in District 5. Please leave the Byrnes Rebels name and sword as it is.

This calling everything offensive is getting ridiculous. It's time we start taking a stand. This name is a nationally known name. After the taking down of the Confederate Battle Flag, that all races willing and proudly fought behind, just makes this state look like it will succumb to any opposing force.

I think we need to keep the mascot the same because it's been like that for years and it's nothing racist and people need to stop taking offense to it because there's nothing wrong with rebels being.our mascot
