I completely agree with the sentiments. I am quite sure that a sope of work, and a tendering process seeking a "fixed price, bonded contract " would allow for a modernization of the inside of the building.

In place of tearing down and rebuilding this facility, why not fix the street lights.

Ridgeway should be designated as a heritage district as it is a quaint, old town which is still very much intact. Demolishing such a historically significant buililding and replacing it with a modern structure would irrevocably change the nature of Ridgeway. If the MRSB has the money to demolish and rebuild then it can certainly save the facade and modernise the interior.

This happened in Kitchener and the clock town was placed in the park. What a shame it was. I live in Cambridge and because of our heritage buildings, we are the place that Hollywood comes to visit to film movies. Do NOT destroy this building. Call Carl Zehr, prior Mayor of Kitchener and Doug Craig current mayor of Cambridge. Please do not destroy your heritage... Signed, a heritage appreciator and community cheerleader...

Over here in the east end(Wards one and Two) DSBN amlagamated 3 schools. They went to General Vanier because they had a lot of property. Every time I look at Fort Erie Public I see a lot of property that backs on FESS. I don't see how Vanier was central but I guess they have plans for the FEPS/FESS property. So I am wondering why they aren't going to the Bertie Public School site that also has a lot of property? They are going to bus Crystal Beach and Bertie to Ridgeway so why not bus Ridgeway and Crystal Beach to Bertie? Hmm, something about that doesn't work in their plans? Wonder what?

A new elementary school is needed but it should not be at the cost of loosing this venerable building!

Tear down is not always the answer. History is very important. This School raised a lot of children and they want to see future Generations walk down the same halls.

Is it possible to keep parts of the school and update other parts...does it have to be all or nothing? This is not just a building, it's generations of history!
