This petition is being submitted in support of the return of one of the great protest bands the world has ever seen. It has been many years since Rage Against the Machine resurfaced as an entire unit, but many feel we are in need of the inspiration that Rage always provided in times of uncertainty, especially when it related to political protest and fighting for what we know is right. Considering the following news, we may need Zack, Tom, Brad and Tim more than ever...

***America just elected Donald Trump for the presidency of the United States.***

Yes, something THAT monumentally ridiculous just happened. Something that will undoubtedly hurt this country in the worst possible ways. Election day ended with the selection of one of the most sexist, racist, misogynistic, foul-mouthed, xenophobic fear mongers that our generation will likely ever know. He will soon have the power to cause this country, one that he claims to want to "Make Great Again", to rot at its very core. We must not give in to his beliefs and the hatred for which he is so well known.

Our ask is simply this...

Consider our request: We are in dire need of protest music that reflects the current state of affairs in the USA. Many have tried, and some with impressive results, but we know that Rage Against the Machine represents the gold standard for this genre. A new album, EP or even a single (to kick things off, perhaps?) might represent the perfect opportunity to spark the type of musical revolution that R.A.T.M. originally developed over their years as a band. As fans, we would be absolutely enthralled at the mere consideration, let alone at the acceptance of this request.

Consider our reasoning, for it is blatantly obvious: The world is an ever-changing place, and often it is changing with positive results, but Mr. Trump's impending swearing in to office will mark a dark time in our county's history; possibly the darkest we've seen in a very long time. Shunning of the proven scientific facts surrounding climate change, proposing the idea of erecting a 50 foot tall wall further separating the United States from Mexico, appointing a vice president who believes that someone who is homosexual can be "made straight" via shock conversion therapy, setting back LGBT rights by years and threatening legal residents of the country simply because of their religious beliefs and ideologies. These are the makings of a monster.

This part is directed toward the band specifically... Guys, you may think that such a request is excessive or possibly too preemptive, but the writing is on the wall. Things will begin to move fast, and not in a good way, once Trump takes office, so we implore you to consider our request. We will not hold it against you if you cannot comply, as I'm sure there is much going into putting this into motion, but if it works out, I feel confident that I can speak for your fans in saying that we will be there to support you every step of the way.
