We lived in Mapledurham vicarage during the war and my father used to walk across the fields to Reading station to get to London. We were taken to the park . My father also did some Home Guard training there. It was given for recreation and sport and should remain for that purpose only.

Totally agree with P. Joyce's comment. I am an ex resident of Caversham and a long time user of the playing fields. I still like to walk there when I visit.

It is essential we protect our charitable trusts and Mapledurham Playing Fields are highly used and valued by the local community and across Reading for sport and recreation.

The playing fields were given in trust to the WHOLE community for leisure pursuits; ant breaking of teh trust will set a precedent for teh future and teh fields will be lost for ever.
