Petition to transition the entire Polk Place neighborhood into the Williamson County School District

Goal:
To transition the entire Polk Place neighborhood into the Williamson County School District
Reason:
Polk Place is a split school district neighborhood. The West portion of the neighborhood is part of the Franklin Special School District (FSSD), while the East portion of the neighborhood is zoned for the Williamson County School District (WCS).
Statistics:
The Polk Place neighborhood has a total of 356 homes. Of the portion of the Polk Place neighborhood zoned for FSSD, 39 (K-8) grade students currently attend an FSSD school.
The Total Polk Place FSSD Student Count includes:
1. Franklin Elementary: 8 students.
2. Freedom Intermediate: 7 students.
3. Popular Grove Elementary & Middle School: 19 Students.
4. Freedom Middle School: 5 Students
Impact to our neighborhood:
A. Safer for our Children
Each morning there may be as many as 7+ buses in our neighborhood.
1. Winstead Elementary (WCS)
2. Franklin Elementary (FSSD)
3. Popular Grove (FSSD)
4. Page Middle School (WCS)
5. Freedom Intermediate (FSSD)
6. Centennial High School (BOTH WCS & FSSD)
7. Special Needs bus
B. Stronger Community within our Neighborhood
By giving all the children the opportunity to attend school together, it would constitute a stronger community feel for the entire Polk Place neighborhood.
Why Now?
Consideration may now be given to other “split” neighborhoods to transition their entire neighborhoods into Williamson County School District. Since our goal is the same, it would be prudent to include Polk Place in this consideration.
