Plan Harcourt: Community Suggestions for a DDO

i did not move here to live in the suburbs. small blocks and big houses are ugly, create more noise, traffic and pollution. local wildlife also suffers.

Keep Harcourt as a country town with its planning, not an extension of Bendigo or Melbourne. It would essentially take all the character out of the town and area.

Outer-urban style subdivisions are inappropriate, lack outdoor space and conservation of trees, lack compulsory solar panels and batteries, etc.

Harcourt has a strong rural character and is a special place of natural beauty. It is also an area of rich and productive soils. This character and the avaliability of bigger lots as are currently there usable as small/ larger farms is important to preserve in this area and should strongly influence any development that goes on there. I agree with the suggestions in the submission put forward with this petition.

Please don't fill this location with ugly subdivisions that are insensitive to their surroundings, lifted straight out of AV Jennings, or the like, built wth little imagination and no consideration for aspect, etc!

Couldn’t agree more & not only Harcourt - all over the Shire

Harcourts future residential developments need to be compatible with the area's natural features.

Please show done imagination and seek to value environmental sustainability in planning beyond cookie-cutter estates.

Let's work at keeping Central Vic a place to visit, not a place to bulldoze. Our flora and fauna must be considered

Totally agree, this is a great opportunity to create an environmentally conscious community

Leave room for trees and wildlife, we need to acknowledge a warming climate and design for it.

Of course there must be housing , but it is incumbent upon the council to make that the sort of housing that is an asset to the community.

I believe careful consideration needs to be given to the planning of development of Harcourt. We don't want to see a compacted suburban style dominate over a more individual look .

Keep it country

Harcourt doesn’t deserve to look like Craigieburn. Try harder. Be better.

Let’s not have ‘cookie cutter’ housing and streets. Keep the country looking like a country town. Big, open, green and kerbs.

Agree with all points

I agree totally with this concept! The new development in High Street is a total eyesore! Tiny blocks with houses piled on top of one another! Is there any guarantee that these homes will not be inundated with flood water as it used to be back in the 1990’s? The General Store quite often had flood water flowing through the back fence
