I, a voting age resident of Penfield, NY, am asking the Town Board of Penfield to pass legislation that enables our town to implement the Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) Program authorized by the New York State Public Service Commission.

CCA allows participating local governments to pool demand for and procure an energy supply on behalf of its utility customers; including up to 100% clean, carbon free renewable electricity, often at a lower cost to residents. As we look to secure a cleaner energy future, local governments have been provided with an opportunity to address human caused global warming and to affect real change in the type of energy we use.

On August 29th, 2019, the nearby Towns of Brighton, Irondequoit, and Pittsford, as well as the Village of Pittsford, formally selected an administrator for their CCA program. This selection paves the way for all four of these municipalities to procure lower cost, 100% clean electricity for their residents. We believe that the Town of Penfield should be joining with these four municipalities right now to form an even larger buying group seeking even lower costs for a 100% clean, renewable and carbon free electricity supply.

The above mentioned four town and village leaders are showing the way for other communities in our region to reduce energy costs, expand energy choices and invigorate local climate action all at the same time. With my signature on this petition, I am asking, as a voting age resident of Penfield, that the leaders of the Town of Penfield do the same.
