We need to take a look of all aspects of the central office to see what we can cut. We need to focus on saving student facing programs such as the arts and middle school sports.

We need DOGE in Brookline

Please don’t get much needed services for the FRR elementary school!

Give our children a good education for the future!

The PSB administration may be partly to blame, but our representatives need to find the budget to save these programs

Children and core education are the priority, not DEI programs and administrarive bloat.

To say I have been disappointed by Woorld Languages cut in K-5 would be an understatement. I was appaled! Excellent teachers were let go and our students missed out. And yet administrative positions are untouched. Ridiculous!

Last year, there was a $2 million deficit that resulted in the loss of our K-5 world languages program which was something that MANY people, including my family, advocated to keep. I'm highly disappointed that after those ill-advised cuts, we now face the cutting of our performing arts program and 1st grade paraprofessionals. As a parent of a 4th grader and a 1st grader, I can tell you that having the Conservatory program and having paraprofessionals in 1st grade are VERY important. You cannot give children the ability to learn a world language and then take it away. You cannot give children the ability to learn an instrument and then take it away. It is unconscionable. First recalculate the budget and figure out if the deficit really needs to be $8 million, and then look elsewhere for the money, NOT from the students.

Another side effect of this proposal that has gotten lost among the other horrible things proposed: It would also turn K-8 library time into a teacher prep release time. Currently, teachers go to the library with their class, which allows the librarian and teacher to work together to help students choose books. The Brookline program has served as a model for other programs, including Boston Public Schools, and is the model recommended by the American Association of School Libraries. If these proposed cuts go through, teachers would not attend library time with their class and our model program would become a thing of the past.
