Prospect Ridge Academy refuses to remove sexually explicit, pornographic material from the high school library catalog, which is funded by taxpayer dollars. The content includes graphic images and text depicting multiple sexual acts between both adults and minors. Beginning last fall, parents have notified the administration, librarians and the Board of Directors to this matter, but the material still remains in the library catalog, accessible to minor PRA high school students. This is not an effort to ban books. This is an effort to ensure that our school libraries are safe environments for all students by complying with laws intended to protect children. Please sign this petition if you believe that PRA should exclude sexually explicit, pornographic material from elementary, middle and high school libraries, including the graphic novel, “Gender Queer”, by Maia Kobabe.
