The project as it is currently proposed is completely out of scale for the neighborhood. This section of Putnam Avenue is already overburdened with traffic, especially at rush hour. Making this intersection busier would make the approach to I-95 even more of a health hazard. There is also the question of flooding and adequate drainage arising from concreting over such a large area. Two stories with some moderate income housing in a development one quarter the size of that proposed might sensible,given the constraints of the site but even that would present traffic/environmental issues. traffic at that intersection is already a nightmare. i wait 10 mins just to turn left on sheephill. adding more retail is insanity.

TOO BIG. stop trying to turn riverside into downtown stamford. we dont need 138 more cars coming out of that driveway.

ridiculous. my kids walk to EMS and the cars already fly through there like they are on a highway. leave it alone.

One more thing. It occurs to me that if there are 138 parking spots then there may be that many or more people in the building many of whom will be using the internet. If Optimum is the internet provider, unless Optimum installs a larger capacity internet "on ramp", speeds for residents up on Sheephill such as myself who use Optimum will degrade, which I don't want to happen.

It is concerning to me to allow the construction of such a large building : 1- not to think about already overwhelming traffic concerns 2- safety of children- an impossible task to walk to school walking as cars only speed and drivers forgot where the break pedal is located in their car 3- turning a nice suburban neighborhood into yet another city not to mention the raising cost of real estate, etc etc etc etc Please vote No to this- Greenwich used to be the nicest and safest place to live but all this "modernization" is killing the charm of a "big" town- esthetics and design are forgotten; big is not better. We moved here 20 years ago to raise our children. We value the small local shops and walking community of Riverside and Old Greenwich. The residents of Riverside move here for the expressed purpose of having a healthy safe environment, without the congestion of many other suburban neighborhoods. This proposed development is a threat to the lifestyle that Riverside residents value. First, the safety of our children is an issue. Many children walk from Sheephill Road, crossing the Post Rd to get to Eastern Middle School everyday. With a development of this magnitude cars will be entering and exiting a small, narrowly confined area all day long. This is an area that children need to cross through to get to and from school. The PTA's have worked hard to develop safe walking zones for our children and this is in direct opposition to that effort. Additionally, the size of this proposed project is completely out of proportion with the rest of the Riverside community. The height is overwhelming and dwarfs the other office buildings/ retail space/ condos on our side of town. It's godzilla in munchkinland. As far as the traffic patterns, I drive these routes everyday. As a resident on Lockwood Road I use Lockwood Lane several times a day to exit to the Post Rd. Both Lockwood Lane and Riverside Ave, are constantly jammed up because of the back- up of traffic on E. Putnam. Oftentimes, traffic on the Post Rd is bumper to bumper from River Rd. in Cos Cob to the I-95 exit in Riverside. Synchronizing the traffic lights will not help the back up as there are just too many people using this route. With Waze and Google maps, cars are now coming off 95 and using Putnam as a cut through. We are experiencing more and more traffic on our narrow Greenwich roads. With the proposed site, cars will be entering and exiting that tight and very crowded intersection all day long which will create further backups and delays. I have lived on Sheephill Rd. near the intersection of Sheephill and Rt. 1 for 17 years. I know the volume of traffic on all days and hours. It is not now lightly traveled. Sheephill itself regularly sees cars zooming by my house at over 40 miles per hour, so many in fact, that the police sit in front of my house from time to time to catch speeders. It is a family neighborhood with many small and very small young children at play in driveways and parents walking with strollers on the sidewalks. Sheephill is already quite busy and increased traffic by people on their way to and from the new edifice at all hours will further intimidate them and increase noise and polluion levels for all residents. Ariadna Wood in the comment above is accurate. Traffic concerns are overwhelming, pedestrians including young people will have a more difficult time crossing Rt. 1 and/or Sheephill Rd. The construction process which will probably take over a year will disrupt the area with all the attendant vehicles, and noise. This building is not needed - it is not a need. We will all get along without it. If you define quality of life by profit for the few builders and investors and a few tiny percentage points of new tax revenue for Greenwich then you should build this. If you define quality of life by retaining an healthy environment with lower noise, lower congestion, lower frenetic activity and citizens enjoying the quieter, green, relatively safe suburbs with lower pollution levels, then stop it.
