Such a new ruling would make it difficult for those on fixed income to sell their home

This is just out of control government duplicating what buyers and home owners already take care of. It's unwarranted and more government overreach!

What is the positive aspect to this ordinance? Who does it benefit?

I see no reason for this ordinance that is a redundant expense added to a real estate transaction.

I do not see anyone benefitting from this unnecessary intrusion by city government.

Eden Prairie's consideration of a new Point-Of-Sale inspection ordinance may be well-intended; but it is also misguided, over-intrusive, and duplicative of private and more thorough inspections done in nearly all residential real estate transactions. If adopted it will add an unecessary cost and step to the process of selling a home in Eden Prairie. It will also likely have the unintended consequence of incorrectly branding Eden Prairie in the real eastate marketplace as a community with such poor housing conditions that a Point-Of-Sale inspection was necessary to maintain even minimum safety and health standards in its housing stock. As a real estate agent who works and sells in Eden Prairie I believe the goal of the City to verify a baseline standard of its housing stock can be met through less intrusive, less expensive, and more efficient methods. I urge the City Council to reject adoption of the Point-Of-Sale Inspection requirement currently under consideration.

City inspections are unnecessary and redundant. All buyers do there own much more detailed inspection. It adds costs to the sellers.

this is an unnecessary government intrusion. It adds no real value to properties and in cities where is has been implemented housing values suffer, transactions are delayed and the cost is an additional burden that is typically covered by private inspections.

This is absurd and will create a horrible stigma for the great city of EP.

There must be a public hearing on this.

This is unnecessary involvement in the home sale process by the City. Buyer already pay for a much more involved inspection than the City is proposing. No City regulation of this magnitude should be considered by the City while refusing to hold a public meeting for imput from the residents they work for.

Another unncessary further government intrusion into the private sector.

Enough!!We need the city to keep their hands out of our pockets and run the city the way they were elected to do. We have enough regulations as it is. As I recall I signed about 48 seperate forms at closing.

This Mandate is totally bad for the city of Eden Prairie and its residents.

Please vote no. This requirement is redundant, adds additional financial burden to both sellers and buyers, and unnecessarily involves government.
