If we are to empower our next STEM leaders, we need the knowledge and experiences on how to do this. NOAA Teacher at Sea is that program that empowers us to empower our students.

Being a Teacher at Sea was life changing and career changing. In a time when teachers are both battered by society and expected to perform extraordinary feats, we should applaud programs like Teacher at Sea and work to promote them, not defund them.

This program has been a great benefit for teachers and students for the past 25 years. Please fund this program and continue to influence future generations of STEM students.

This is one of the most important programs teachers have to make the science real for students. Please restore funding for NOAA TAS Program. Continue to give teachers the chance to be active participants in meaningful science, so they have the answer when a student asks, when will I ever need to know this?

Over the years literally thousands of my students benifited from the knowledge I received. They continued their education in areas such as oceanography ,climatologyand research and developmen.t They work inlabs, Aquariums.

I was a 2013 Teacher at Sea and my experience was so valuable to not only myself, but also my students! This is a real life research opportunity that is not available for teachers any other way.

The TAS program touches not only the lives of the teachers participating, but also countless years of students gracing our classrooms! Through the TAS program teachers develop a practical understanding of science from the Scientists application point of view. The applied science directly supports student STEM education as, students complete assignments developed in the TAS program. These classroom lessons develop learning skill, science literacy and excitement about the world’s atmosphere and oceans. The TAS program is an asset we cannot afford to lose.

The Teacher at Sea Program through NOAA has been the most rewarding teacher enhancement and development that I have ever been a part of. My students live in landlocked Oklahoma and have little opportunity to learn about our oceans and more important NOAA's role in the mapping, conservation, and education of our oceans. I have participated in the TAS program twice at sea and as an educational liaison on ocean literacy for 8 years now. My students love learning about oceans and my experience in the TAS program has played a major role in development curriculum I can teach to them. They also get to participate in my ocean adventures through the sea journals that are posted online. I have participated in many educational adventures through NASA, NOAA, US NAVAL Academy, ARMADA Project, Universities of Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and many more. NOAA's TAS Program has propelled me into many other programs and in turn provided many great opportunities for me and my students. Please KEEP FUNDING this worthwhile and valuable program.

My Teacher at Sea Program experience was one of the most amazing events in my life. I was able to collect and use authentic and real-time data with my students. My 6th grade Science students benefit everyday from the experiences that I had being a NOAA Teacher at Sea. This program should continue every year. It will change the lives of every teacher and every student who learns about this awesome opportunity to study the ocean!

I am using the materials I developed this week with studnets who are completely engrossed with the materials. In fact, I have used it every year with much anticipation. I cannot imagine remaining in teaching if I did not have this "shot in the arm" experience.

This program was an incredible experience which I continue to use in my classroom every year. I am able to show students real science and give them ideas for their future. Every teacher should have this opportunity.

If we destroy teachers' access to real ocean-based science, we help destroy the kind of educational opportunity that makes the US great. Save this program, and make more programs like it!
