Against Seniors Taking Second Semester Tests

While being "exempt" from semester tests is a privilege -- and not a right -- I believe very strongly that exempting seniors from them, as well as make-up snow days (that could be the next thing to go), allows them (i.e. seniors) to focus on the next stage of their role in our society; if it be going to college, joining the armed services, or entering the private sector. As an alum, and one who appreciates the traditions of CHS, I believe it is important that the administration or school board listen to the concerns of our young people and uphold the traditions that they appreciate. They've been looking forward to getting out of semester tests for 4 years -- maybe even longer.

While I understand that required semester tests are intended to teach consequences for absences and test-taking skills, I firmly believe that the students who deserve these consequences should have to deal with them later in life (i.e. As a struggling college student). Padding the difficult life the students chose to endure isn't helping them. By now (our senior year), we should have taken the initiative to improve our attendance/test taking skills ourselves.
