The exam interface is sloppy but the absolute worst part of it is the whiteboard. If no decent tool is available, then, scratch paper and pencil should be provided at testing centers following.

I support the use to bring back the option to use physical pencil and paper use for examination. Education and learning are not a one size fits all. Suggesting that everyone learns the same and therefore only has one option to scratch ideas and solutions out on paper is sad. The whiteboard is stressful and adds another level of complexity to the already high stakes situation. Some people struggle to use technology and others think better when they can sort out concepts and use their hands to work out solutions. Thank you.

I took Practice management exam on Oct. 20th. in Charlotte NC. My coworker and I were very disappointed to hear that no scratch paper was allowed for the ARE and all candidate has to use the whiteboard for all writing. Writing on the whiteboard was like a kid learning how to write due to the slow computer system at the testing facility. I could not write any numbers or words on that white board without it freezing and drawings lines when it unfreezes. On top of that, you have to write with a mouse?. The computer system was so slow it takes about 6 to 10 seconds after clicking next just to go to the next questions. This started to build up my frustration and ended up losings lots to time trying to use the whiteboard. Due to these factors, I was not able to complete the test and had to guess answers for the last 15 to 18 questions. This is not fair that other professional exams takers in the same room with us were given scratch paper for their exams and Ncarb does not. The white board is a basically a joke to write on and Ncarb should do better to provide candidate with a better writing solution and not promote frustration while taking the exams. These exams are not cheap and Ncard need to do something about this ASAP.

I recently failed the Practice Management exam With a coworker at the BCY Testing Solutions center in Charlotte NC. We both FAILED. The computers were old and the Whiteboard was laggy and would glitch and the mouse would jump around on it. I could not read what I anything I tried to write. I called a Proctor over to see the problem and they saw it and just said "sorry there is nothing we can do" She did switch me over to another computer but It was exactly the same as the other computer. The same thing was happening with my coworker on his computer. We wasted probably 40 minutes each trying to use the glitchy whiteboard program. We wasted our Time and our money and are both very discouraged about moving forward with our exams.

The white board in the test OSS very laggy, trying to draw or write out s as if on paper results in chicken scratches that barely work because it constantly freezes or gets chopped up. Even the text tool is slow and freezes. Inefficient decision affecting so many people

Honest concern, please allow physical scratch paper for test center candidates. I believe providing an actual notebook and pencil would be less expensive that the current electronic whiteboard.

I recently took a Pearson view test, they gave me a laminated piece of graph paper and a dry erase marker pen. It was a perfectly suitable way to use a scratch paper and ensure no material left the test center.

I am not going to pass because i will run out of time due to the clunky whiteboard tool. I cannot get through the practice exams quickly enough without sketch paper, especially on the case studies. What a joke NCARB

This whiteboard is really a step backwards in our path to licensing. If providing an “equal” clean desk policy for online test takers, than that should be for online test taking, it should take away the benefit of testing in person. NCARB, Please do better to HELP us pursue licensure, listen to your test takers, and find a better solution.

Just failed one of the practice exams trying to use the horrible whiteboard, actually grabbed scratch paper in the middle of the test b/c I couldn't take it any longer! This doesn't bode well for my upcoming test.

It is in NCARBs best interest for people to fail the exam to make more money. This is clearly yet another attempt to make the exam more difficult than it needs to be and profit off of exam takers. Every other proctored exam has figured out how to successfully use scratch paper, such as the GRE - and the ARE allowed it for years - but suddenly it's unfair? We are in a profession where we literally sketch and draw to think through ideas, why would a test not reflect that? Why would anyone think it's fair to make you take a timed test where you have to draw and write with a mouse within an already buggy software?
