Ed O’Bannon and other washed up players that couldn’t make it professionally have taking away opportunities for fans of Collegiate sports to play as their favorite college teams. These players are complaining that EA sports are using their likeness and want to be compensated but most fans don’t know or remember anything about these players. They should be grateful that someone remembers them to even be considered to be placed their likeness in a video game. Since 1993, I have, like many fans, buy the game to play as my favorite team but not realizing that there is more than just the popular schools that come on Television. Schools such as Idaho, Northern Illinois, Ball State, Appalachian State University, South Alabama, Old Dominion and Georgia Southern who only get regional coverage give fans opportunities to hear about these schools. The games also help fans get a little understanding on how recruitment works for schools as well. NCAA sports games is what made games such as Madden and NBA Live exciting because you could use those graduating senior in you Madden or Live franchise mode. Bringing back NCAA sports video games is not just important for fans young and old but also for all those smaller schools that do not get opportunities to be on national television.
