Thanks for sharing this information. It's horrific what they are doing. And illegal.

The premature action by Maret is illegal. This is an irreversible action.

I fully support this petition. Any plan to cut and remove these trees would massively hurt the environment and the physical integrity of the neighborhood. It would do irreparable damage.

Once the trees are cut they are gone forever. There is no guarantee that Maret will receive formal BZA approval for their gross overdevelopment of this property. Cutting 60 trees without formal approval is reckless beyond words.

This is local ecological terrorism: “we’re going to cut down 60 trees, turn a wild life area into a muddy slough, just because we want to punish those who disagree with us” even if it takes another 2 or 3 years to build our sports metroplex. People who consider themselves “liberal” and purportedly concerned about global warming, no doubt.
This is gratuitously spiteful and wrong. Please do not do it. It is ecologically and morally wrong.

Maret is a bad faith actor on this issue and in these negotiations. Slow down. Pull back on this destruction and over-development.

The loss of the large number of trees will have negative environmental impact on the entire area.

Maret should NOT proceed until it has final written approval from BZA.

I really find it alarming that, in this urban setting where green space is so important, that mature trees would be destroyed without going through some prior approval process.
