yes, preserve as many trees as possible. It does seem premature to take down trees without all the construction permits in place.

We live a few blocks away and love the green space. Our neighborhood would be so sad to love the beauty of this park!

Is this even consistent with the original plan? I thought that trees were going to be transplanted, not destroyed.

I'm sorry, but shame on Maret. There are a lot of sports fields in DC, but the tree canopy is diminishing. This is an area where schools should get creative about using available space. Sort of like swim teams do. They all manage to share even if it means 5:00 am practices.

I am particularly concerned about the ring of mature oak trees on the property. Work anywhere near them could compromise the root structure and weaken or kill the 100+year old trees

I agree that any permanent alterations, such as tree removal, must wait for final approvals and not be carried out preemptively.

Destruction of green space in an era of global warming is short-sighted.

Tree removal is a serious action that affects the health of our community and the environment. Not a single tree should be removed without a specific permit for that tree. That in turn requires inspection of the health of the tree, in addition to a valid, approved final construction permit.

Neighborhood doesn't need this. Do not cut down the trees.

Please do not remove any trees until all permissions have been provided and all appeals heard. And even then don’t do it. These are heritage trees with great value to wildlife, our local community, and the planet. Market kids can play at existing fields.

Please. Be a good citizen. Wait for DCRA approval and resolution of all appeals before undertaking any action on the ECC property.
