The targeted events to exclude are not irrelevant to the game. Marathon especially started in Greek so many years back!

It's strange not to have Marathon in SEA Games especially in Malaysia, where many Malaysians and the people around the region are into long distance running. Marathon will definitely attract and motivate normal people like me.
