My daughter has mentioned that she may not get up if she needs a spoon or fork for her packed lunch. She's too nervous to ask. I am not happy to hear that they don't wash their hands after coming in from the playground. That should be part of the routine as it concerns their health.

My kids continually comment on not having enough time to eat and rarely buy lunch because they say there isn't any time to eat if they do. They also comment that there are negative comments from the staff (although I acknowledge that it is a very difficult job!) and agree that parent volunteers might be a good solution. thank you for addressing this issue.

Not having enough time to eat has been constant since my daughter started at Manoa. Equally as frustrating is the fact that if she buys, she doesn't have time to eat. I have heard that many of the other items as well from my daughter.

My first grader packs lunch, but has expressed difficulty in getting help to refill his water bottle, running out of time to eat, and not really having time to use the bathroom at school at all.

I continue to hear that there is never enough time to eat. Thank you for putting this together.

I typically pack, but occasionally have a hectic morning and want the kids to buy. My son throws a fit and refused to buy bc he won't have enough time to stand in line and then eat.

I am so grateful someone has raised this concern as I have been hearing many accounts of "not enough time to eat" from my daughter. She even tried to not talk at all during lunch (which really makes me sad) to see if she could finish then and it still wasn't enough time. Thank you so much for politely suggesting the importance of dialogue and review so that we are establishing healthy habits and perspectives in our children.
