AA MIA pilots are commuting everywhere also. Nothing is going change that. Im doing a DH trip today but since I am in MIA I dont do the commute ord deadhead and still get paid for the trip.

Not in favor of the Satellite base. Is not an equal opportunity for everyone, and certainly does not offer any stability for anyone. To me the situation is like the ugly girlfriend that you ask out when you have to take a date to a function and the pretty ones are already either busy or not available. We are the ugly one here and the company dropped us at the tip of a hat and turned our lives into a commutable one. Commuting is a possibility in this career and if you think for one second this company or any cares about our families or personal state you are mistaken. We have pilots dying at overnights leaving their families behind for this company and no one cares about those issues. So why give a hoot to this company now that THEY NEED US. Either we get what we deserve (MIA base) or we continue to have it the way they wanted it. Republic is their pretty girl but beauty does not last long and now they want to dance with us. So are we going to dance on this one in their party or are we going to choose our own party and dance to our tune?
The company is paying a lot more in cancellations and passenger inconvenience due to their ideals and now they are even paying a higher price in hotels for cummuters, in Miami for overnights that were never needed before.
A satellite base is a company benefit and not ours. Im surprised a ORD Captain would even entertain the idea if only DFW captains would be offered to bid for it. Shows you how people only see headlines and don't read between the lines. Dangerous when we petition for something we may not even get to use for ourselves.
MIA BASE is the way to go, I see more MIA in my trips then I would ever see in a satellite base. Believe me, I don't like to commute and my family and myself are inconvenienced over this company stunt, but we need to focus on the long term fix and not the quick till I flow mentality of some here.
