Please do not allow an apartment complex take the place of a cultural center in Laguna Niguel. An art center is just what Laguna Niguel needs to add to its depth and loveliness. Please enable Laguna Niguel and OC to be more that another apartment complex. Between Laguna Niguel, Mission Viejo, Aliso Viejo and Dana Point, we have enough complexes. It also looks to me that on the 5 a slew of apartments are emerging. Orange County, let's be more creative and imaginative. Allow Laguna Niguel to be more than our stereotypical reputation sometimes projects.Thank you.

No more housing. No more commercial. Yes cultural. Two cars x 200 residential units = 400 more cars on Crown Valley Parkway, several times a day. Laguna Niguel already has too much traffic from recent residential projects East of I-5 driving Crown Valley to the beaches. And the Laguna Niguel Gateway project will make it even more crowded. Laguna Niguel has lost the pleasant character it once had.

As a lifelong resident of Laguna Niguel, alumnus of Moulton Elementary School, Niguel Hills Junior High, and Dana Hills High School I feel fortunate to have been able to experience the enrichment that comes with cultural exposure. While in my graduate studies at MIT, I am most fortunate to have been surrounded by the deep and rich tapestry of art, music, theater, and architecture of Boston while at the same time having the freedom to enjoy the academic inspiration this can help to develop in young and creative minds focused on new innovation and discovery. A cultural center in Laguna Niguel would be a great jump start to seed this inspiration in the youth of both Laguna Niguel and for all Orange County residents. I'm surprised an open canvas space like these lots would be converted to develop county leased housing rather than an area that will help longer term growth and diversification within the community. I'm strongly in favor of a cultural center and museum on this site and hope the petition is effective to show our community solidarity to do what's right for our long term prosperity instead of short term focused returns.

My compliments to our city council for resisting the county's proposal. A cultural center, museum, performing arts, sculpture garden, etc would be a far more beneficial addition to our community than more housing. More so when you consider the housing structure built near Cabot & Crown Valley Pkwy, as well as the recent revitalization of the 'luxury apartment homes' off Niguel and CVP (above Taco Bell). Have we thought about the schools? Our classrooms are already very large - has the impact of so much new housing to CUSD been considered?
