Laguna Niguel is a bedroom community without a true city center and the open area adjacent to City Hall may be our last opportunity to have an identity. County staff’s proposal to force more apartments and congestion into the center of our community is another example of their complete lack of regard for anything other than money and political self-interest. As a long term resident I remember the battle to force the County to develop Crown Valley Community Park with local tax assessments and prevent their diversion to uses outside of our community and I haven’t forgotten the sudden mysterious decision to designate Monarch Beach, an historic portion of Laguna Niguel, as a part of Dana Point when the city boundaries were drawn.

We are not please with additional apartments being build in our neighborhood of high end homes and low crime rate. Apartments have always statistically shown a higher crime rate including domestic violence, thefts and robery issues higher than residential owner occupied areas.
