HPRB has generally been very good about maintaining the historic sense of 10th street when it comes to preserving existing buildings. The difficulty arises when something new is being constructed. This is where the neighborhood needs to weigh in. Often it comes down to individual "taste" but it's not too hard to see excellent examples where new construction melds well in the neighborhood without being a replication of something old. Good petition. Blogs and interviews with City paper etc. help. Public awareness and pressure were important elements in past victories. Attending HPRB meetings is extremely important. Anyone can speak in a public meeting. What you are asking is already part of HPO/HPRB's job description.
