Speak out to the Napa DA in support of just punishment for felons who steal grapes

It is a horrible injustice that this individual could be afforded the opportunity to reduce his sentence. Not only did he on two occasions take property that was not his but on October 17th he took grapes that were not recovered which deprives us all of the great wine that Del Dotto produces from its Howell Mountain grapes! Please do what is right by our legal system and try this person for felony theft.

I believe in justice! It is my opinion that Mr. Hill should be prosecuted for the crimes he committed!

Mr. Hill stole from the DelDotto Family Winery on at least 2 occasions. The final product cost of the grapes stolen is estimated to be in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. In 2010 Mr. Hill's attorney was able to reduce other felony fraud counts to misdemeanors (New York Times) Its obvious the reduction in charges was tried once before by the courts and they failed. This impacts peoples lives and their ability to keep their families. It isn't just about the people who own the wineries, it impacts all of the people they employee and the economy. Don't devalue what the people in the community to and make this less than what it is. This person stole and should be punished.

Mr. Hill should be charged with a felony conviction. A misdemeanor conviction would set a precedent for future thefts of grapes. Hold Mr. Hill responsible for the grand theft that he did.

Mr. Hill should be convicted of the felony he committed and given the maximum sentence possible with full monetary restitution required. Apparently this is not his first offense.

Please keep this the way it should be. A felony. If not you will be seeing more thefts in the future by the message you send. If you change anything it should be to 2 felonies. If you change this to a misdemeanor then Mr. Hill should then have to compensate the Del Dottos for their loss that Mr. Hill has inflicted on them!

Please, no reduced sentence and restitution is an absolute. This is a large loss and despite America rapidly becoming the Robin Hood of the world, there is just no valid excuse or support for this type of thievery.

Do not reduce this sentence, it is clearly a felony and will incite others to profit from theft of grapes if reduced to a misdemeanor.

Stand up and do the right thing. This was a felony crime and must be adjudicated as such.

Reducing this sentence from a felony to misdemeanor is ridiculous, especially if this person does no jail time. The honest American businessman needs to be protected against those that choose to be criminal. If you set the example here with a reduced sentence that will lead to huge consequences for the honest as they will need to install security systems, fences, etc., all leading to higher production costs and prices for the public. Do the right thing - keep this as a felony.

Not only should there be jail time but some restitution of financial loss.

Felony theft should not be considered less serious because of the item stolen or who it is stolen from. 500,000 of cash or equipment or grapes should all be seen by the law as the same crime.

Businesses and the public need protection from people like Jeff Hill. He committed a felony and should be required to pay for his crime.
