Speak out to the Napa DA in support of just punishment for felons who steal grapes

To downgrade his conviction to a misdemeanor would be a travesty. The victims will never recover what was stolen and there would be no justice for them.

Why there is any reduction in this case to a misdemeanor is shocking. This theft in just about any other product and/or county would result in a felony conviction and jail time. If Mr Hill indeed is guilty, he needs to serve time!

Reducing Mr. Hills charges to a misdemeanor is s miscarriage of justice and an abuse of the power of the Court. The disruption to Mr. Del Dotto's winery during a time of harvest is unthinkable.

We have enjoyed Del Dotto wines over the years and have been thrilled with the wine they produce. Theft of grapes from any vineyard, but particularly one as significant as Del Dotto, should not be likely dismissed. Permitting a culprit to merely be spanked lightly across the hand by reducing the felony to a misdemeanor would be a miscarriage of justice, encouraging other prospective thieves to steal grapes - or whatever - with alacrity. I believe that Mr. Hill should be charged to the full extent of the law for stealing grapes from the Del Dotto vineyards and should not be given leniency for his crime. The grapes which Mr. Hill stole were valuable and his crime should not be reduced to a misdemeanor. Doing so would completely cause the laws by which we leave to be useless and void of real meaning and effectiveness in preventing crime. Thank you, Susan

Theft is theft. Why set a precedent that this behavior is OK?

These business need protection from petty criminals!! Let Mr. Hill be made an example of. He knew what he was doing when he stole them, so justice needs to be served...

This case should not be adjudicated as a misdemeanor due to the value involved. A proper sentence will help ensure that this type of crime gets its proper notice!!

Totally agree with your note. I sympathize with your plea. Crimes like this have to be punished appropriately.

Given the totality of Mr Hill's crimes and unethical business practices, it would be a slap in the face of very law abiding Napa citizen for Mr Hill's crimes to me reduced to a misdemeanor and probation. He should go jail for his premeditated and malicious behavior.
