Hello My Name is Jacob Bickett! I will be Running for Student Senate on behalf of the Class of '25!

By becoming a student senate member, I want to be a voice for the community of Students here at Illinois Wesleyan. Due to Covid and the effects associated with the virus, this past year has been rough, we have all been through it. I want to maintain a safe and fun transition back to campus and make the rest of this semester as fun as it can possibly be! A lot of activities have been shut down over the past year and a half, with that in mind as a member of the senate I would like to make events on campus as full as they can possibly be this means advertising them to every student on campus. Every student deserves the opportunity to have a fun and safe college experience. Due to my dynamic background in previous leadership organizations, I assure you that my commitments will happen unlike many events of this past year. In my past leadership experiences, I have had to combat the pandemic frequently. In the past year, I became Football Team Captain, an Ambassador Board Member in the representation of my school, and was a Magazine Editor for my Schools newspaper. Each of these activities are very different from each other but unfortunately, they all shared the same struggle, remaining active amungst the pandemic. I can proudly say that the Football team played the entire season without a positive case. The Ambassador Club was able to restructure and actually increase participation in events while following health and safety protocols. Finally, the School's magazine transitioned into an online version and increased its viewership. Although the pandemic has brought much heartbreak and hurt into our world. I am committed to reminding everyone that things WILL turn around!
