Don't be animalist. Just because the hippo is fat and ugly doesn't mean that you can just discriminate against it. Keep it away from human evils. The poor thing can't discriminate against us. When the hippos get sick and all die, our kids won't know what hippos are or what they look like. How will Webkinz create hippo stuffed animals? The new owners won't know what hippos are.
