Hazing is that act of singling out certain people and forcing them to endure humiliating and degrading tasks for the sole purpose of acceptance into an organization. According to statistics 55% of college students admit to being hazed into order to join their organization, and 82% of hazing deaths were due to alcohol. In fact, since 1970 there has been at least 1 reported death each year due to hazing as part of the initiation process.
Hazing should not and cannot define our sororities, fraternities, and other organizations. Our organizations were built on values that our founders held true. As we took our oath to join a new family we promised to love one another, to help one another, and grow into the best versions of ourselves. We are more than the past statistics. We are friends. We are brothers. We are sisters. We are family.
Sign this petition to help make a change. Stop the hazing that occurs on college campuses and make the vow to never degrade another person and make them feel inferior. Make the pledge to stay true to your values and your organization because first you become apart of it, then it becomes a part of you.

I am truly overwhelmed by the momentum this is gaining and I never thought this would resonate with so many people. This belongs to all of you who are brave enough to demand a kinder way forward for our campus organizations. Watching this grow is proof that people are ready to move past these cycles of harm.

One of the reasons that I fell in love with Sigma Kappa was because they are 1000% anti-hazing.
We can be better than this. No one should have to be humiliated to belong somewhere.
Hazing is weak. Real brothers lift each other up rather than hurting them just to prove a point.
Kindness is what holds a chapter together not this cruel stuff. So glad people are speaking up about this finally.
Enough is enough. Stop the cycle.
