Hazing is that act of singling out certain people and forcing them to endure humiliating and degrading tasks for the sole purpose of acceptance into an organization. According to statistics 55% of college students admit to being hazed into order to join their organization, and 82% of hazing deaths were due to alcohol. In fact, since 1970 there has been at least 1 reported death each year due to hazing as part of the initiation process.

Hazing should not and cannot define our sororities, fraternities, and other organizations. Our organizations were built on values that our founders held true. As we took our oath to join a new family we promised to love one another, to help one another, and grow into the best versions of ourselves. We are more than the past statistics. We are friends. We are brothers. We are sisters. We are family.
