The city council finally voted to approve the new street hockey rink construction. It has been a long and draining road to get here but I am relieved we achieved this result. We need to keep our eyes on the planning process to make sure they actually follow through.
The street hockey rink at the stadium is very dilapidated and is not useable. The kids could use a new updated street hockey rink. The old rink is next to the stadium next to the basketball courts. The city council is looking for interest from residents to see if we can build a new rink at either the stadium where the old one is or on 12th avenue where the old tennis court is. Maybe both locations! Please sign if you are a resident of Haverhill and support this. Chances are we could get a recreation grant of some sort from the state.
Seeing this level of support for the rink is exhausting but it keeps me moving forward. I have spent too many hours staring at the cracks in that old pavement to think this movement is anything but necessary.

This would be great for our youth to have somewhere that offers them something to do with the loss of skate land and other places for our youth to be active

Haverhill is a big hockey town. Kids will use that rink everyday. Well worth the money

Haverhill needs these. Both locations would be fantastic for different sides of the city.

I would totally love to see this happen. Maybe even a rink for adults? I've run a league out of Derry the last 3 years and would love something in my own backyard!

Having been involved in street hockey over 35 years ago, this is a great way to help keep kids off of the streets.

The current rink needs to be replaced. They could put it where the old tennis courts are and then they could have lights.

If people want to go let them go! If you don’t feel safe stay home!
