We, the Harborfields community, wish to express our support for the
Board of Education, superintendent Dr. Manning, and the district's
administrators and teachers, who have done an excellent job throughout
the Covid pandemic. Thanks to them, our children are safely back in
school - learning in-person, playing sports with spectators, seeing
their friends, creating art, and playing music.
In recent
weeks, a small but loud group of parents who oppose masks in our schools
have spread misinformation about Covid. They have threatened and
attempted to intimidate members of our Board of Education and school
administration and created a hostile environment at our Board meetings,
forcing board members to have security at a public meeting.
We
know that this small group does not represent our community. We are
proud to live in a place where we care for each other, where we teach
our children to be compassionate towards others. While we wish that our
students didn't have to wear masks, we understand that we are still in a
pandemic and support the current regulations. We are willing to accept a
small inconvenience in order to protect ourselves, our families, and
everyone else in our community. We support the Board of Education, Dr.
Manning, and our administrators in their efforts to keep our community
safe and healthy, and applaud them for their efforts during this
incredibly challenging time.

Dr Manning has navigated this impossible situation with a lot of grace. Glad some of us are speaking up to balance out all the noise.
