HSU ISNT THE SAME WITHOUT THESE PROGRAMS. dont mess with our stuff!!
Student fees pay for this stuff so we should have the final say. Keep your hands off the UC.
Hi everyone, I know most of you are unfamiliar with what is happen but let me give you some information. In July 2013, President of HSU formed the Foundation Task Force (comprised of a variety of campus and community members) and charged it to make a recommendation about how the University’s foundations and auxiliary organizations could be structured with the focus on: • Cost effectiveness • Coordination across the organizations, as well as the University • Transparency • Accountability • Providing valuable and high quality services • Serving the University’s programs As it stands, there are four Auxiliaries that are each non-profit and help run our school through shared governance (a system comprised of democracy that maintains checks and balances for HSU). Here are each of the auxiliaries: 1) Advancement Foundation- a public support charity which promotes, receives, and managed charitable funds. 2) Sponsored Programs Foundation- Another public charity that promotes, receives, and manages sponsored program funds. 3) University Center - a support organization that provides services, conveniences, and amenities to students. (students have a direct say in matters of the University Center as it is described in the preamble of this petition). 4) Associated Students- Provide students a means to participation in campus governance. A.K.A. your student body government. One of the biggest issues at hand here if the task group was to give a recommendation to actually go through with University restructuring is the following: The money generated from students that goes to the University Center would have no more student input, the University Center has a standing account that is well over 8 million dollars - this money is student money - its from the food you pay to eat, the housing you utilize, the tickets you buy for shows, etc. This money along side revenue brought in, from charitable contributions, through the HSU Advancement Foundation

This is ridiculous. The administration is just trying to grab more control and shut us out. Leave our services alone.
