Car meets, they have been going on for years, and a way for friends, family, and many enthusiasts to come together in one spot to enjoy a hobby many grew up with and enjoy the most. We are not bunch of criminals nor a group of trouble makers who intentionally get together to cause trouble. We are simply a group of people from ages wide apart who come together to enjoy company of others alike and see what each person has to bring. Everyone has something different to offer, it be a classic, exotic, bike, truck or an imported vehicle. It is the diversity of many in harmony together that makes us feel connected together as one big group.
We shouldn't get chased away for simply being able to enjoy our hobby, specially when aren't doing anything wrong nor promoting any wrong doing. I am asking us all to come together, start and sign this petition and make a stand together for a passion we all share. Thursday night car meet in Gwinnett County has been going on since 2006. It is something now not only residence of Gwinnett County rather most in metro Atlanta look forward to. The event has grown to a large enough number where it brings good revenue to businesses around it. Over the past few months we have changed many locations. Not only has that annoyed us, but Gwinnett County Police department as well. We simply can't have one location that we can be at without being chased out when we are simply enjoying a hobby.
This petition is to ask Gwinnett County to assist us in making this event happen and permanent. Permitting us a location will ensure proper coordination of the event, and most of all safety. Being able to stay in one place will allow us to keep everyone contained and be easily managed. It is very hard to manage people once they leave a common area, spilling over to multiple locations. Having a permanent location will take people off the streets, decreasing chances of any reckless driving as they are in search of new parking lot after being kicked out of one. Imagine 100+ people in same area, on phones trying to figure out next location, very close to each other, while driving. We are asking Gwinnett county to assist us with traffic coordination during the event hours to ensure proper traffic flow and safety. People tend to behave lot more when an officer is looking over their exit than none at all.
There are other regular events happening in Metro Atlanta where the city and county are in full corporation with the event to ensure it happens the manner it is intended to. So why can't Gwinnett County assists us? We aren't doing nor promoting and any illegal activity. Simply enjoying our favorite hobby.

Tired of being harassed or intimidated by 12 for simply trying to make friends. I'm new to Georgia gimme a break. No laws are broken. And those that break laws will be dealt with accordingly in a calm manner.
Cars and car meets keeps teens off the streets and drugs. You cant put money or time into a car if you are into drugs or gangs.
In my experience car meets that are properly organized and welcomed by the community keeps the younger car enthusiasts from goin in random places to have these meets where they can get into trouble.
Theres no harm im some car and motorcycle enthusiasts hetting together to show off their rides, talk about performance upgrades, and be surrounded by people with the same hobby, its also good for busnisess around the area.
Being in this kind of community is one that makes me feel good about what I do, I'm a mechanic, and enjoy fixing cars and seeing how many people fix there cars,it's a nice feeling when people share the same interests as you. Going to these meets also gives me a chance to hang out with new friends with common interests.

Public car meets need to be around, especially in places that aren't private and anyone can attend easily and have a good time with like minded people, and enjoy each others cars. I attend meets all the time, and there is always a few bad eggs, but most of us are there to enjoy this hobby together and socialize and it helps keep kids out of trouble and into something productive also.

www.SouthEastWheelsEvents.com has supported this well presented and organized free cruise-in for many years. It is a hugely constructive activity that demonstrates the depth of the related hobbies and businesses in North Georgia.
