There is a larger picture to this ongoing issue. The initial plan for the schools merging was to restructure the costs of the Marysville Getchell campus, but in reality, the cost was just shifted around to other areas within the district. Another ghost in the closet concerning budget issues, is that the previous CFO was not performing their job properly and the district found that there had a been a 3 million dollar deficit for a extended period of time. Yet, this seemed to have slipped under the rug when it came to the public knowing.
With regards to the current management of Marysville Getchell, I have a difficult time understanding how Principal Stevenson was chosen to manage this merger. Previously, he managed ACE; which statistically has the lowest academia scores and highest teacher turn over of the four schools. It appears on the surface that Principal Stevenson's approach to management is sub par; if not maybe even unacceptable.
My understanding of the 4 school system was to better suit the needs of our kids and to encourage diversity within the Marysville School District. My understanding is that previous to this year's changes, each school was ran according to the student population that occupied the school. ISC for example had found a culture that encouraged cross functional teams and it seemed to be working great. Now, with the merger, much of this culture has been removed and totalitarianism has been enacted.
I hope that the public takes the time pursue this issue and hold those accountable for the inept management of our school district. Our school district is not a private company and as tax payers we are the ultimate say.

It's stupid to remove something that works well for something that doesn't. Cross-overs shouldn't happen. House system is unique to ISC which is what ISC stands for. ACE is for Construction and engineering. BIO is for medical stuff. Entrepreneur is businesses. ISC is for expanding the future. This school was built to provide an interesting learning experience away from the normality of other schools that are crumbling. Removing what makes Getchell unique and special will make it just as bland as other Marysville schools. Why do this ridiculous thing?

The kids need adequate area to eat, relax, socialize and prepare their brains and bodies for the rest of their days classes. Cramming more than twice the kids than it was designed for into a space is a recipe for trouble. I am deeply saddened about the end of the house system! Having older mentors, and creating connections between grades was a huge draw for us choosing Isc. I am proud of th getchell students for standing up for their beliefs and I applaud their solidarity!

Gather a few students and request meeting with principal. If you are not heard gather many and attend a school board meeting (Monday's) sign up to speak. Inform the board of the discontentment by many regarding changes and its effect on education. Let them know if you are not taken seriously you will consider a sit in and invite the local news to weigh in on the story allowing for public opinion.

I understand the frustruation. Students as well as administrators and parents should sit down and come up with a solution to make our learning environments more suitable. If the system is not broken why fix it! #studentlivesmatter

If the school is going to be changing so much this year the least the school can do is add more lunch space and make more room for the 300 new students being added? Obviously Getchell is starting the school year badly if all I see are complaints from everyone.
