In addition, we need to maintain a much better quality of all ball fields throughout Somers. In some instances it's almost a hazard for the kids to play on some of these fields.

As a resident of Somers and a parent of a boy and a girl I am respectfully requesting that the Town of Somers listen to their community - make an immediate change and create the softball field so that the females growing up in this community can have the same high quality field and equipment to participate in a softball program just as the males have for their baseball program. The fact that this has yet to occur and the parents and members of the town need to acknowledge and request this change is just inappropriate, outdated and outrageous. Both my son and daughter deserve the opportunity to participate in sports programs that have the same high quality regulation fields, equipment, staff and commitment to the children so that they may succeed. I am hoping that the Town Board and Parks & Recreation Board feel the impact of the purpose of this petition and the hundreds of people taking the time to express the need for this commitment to creating a community that both the young boys and girls can participate in sports programs that will enrich and ensure their futures.

Sounds like a backward town. This should be fixed in the town and school.

Our girls deserve to have their own designated fields . Treat them the same as the boys. Give the girls some incentive to enjoy and want to play softball for a wonderful town like Somers!!!!!
