There are 34 Sea Shells in the current fleet. Many more are stored in garages. By any standard, this is a big fleet! Why eliminate the Sea Shell fleet?! Will all the current owners ultimately purchase Optimists? Save the Sea Shells and encourage the program graduates who wish to continue sailing to join the existing Optimist "Green Fleet" off Main Beach.

This should be discussed among the sailing members during the summer when all are around

More than a tradition, the GLP Sea Shell is the ideal boat to teach basic boathandling, safety and nautical etiquette to our youngsters in the Inner Lagoon, while also passing on a cherished legacy down through the generations. Banning Sea Shells in favor of a different boat won't make them better or more competitive sailors any more than buying a new car will make me a safer driver.

We love our sea shells classes. We saved our boat for our children's children. Please keep this tradition alive. Thank you.

I agree that the Sea Shells should be kept. It is more than a tradition.

There is no reason that tradition and advancement can't coexist. My kids are thru it but it was the most memorable period that the four of them cherish and talk about for their futures as mothers. I would vote to keep sea shells a part of GLP life. Opti's are already offered so we aren't missing anything.

GLP is a special place. Let's keep it that way. Save our one-design Sea Shell fleet (the only one in the world).

The children love learning to sail in the seashells and the parents and grandparents love to watch their smiling faces. A real Groton Long Point tradition!!! Save our seashells!!!
