The value of animals in humans' psychological well-being has been clinically documented time and time again. This reaction by management seems to be extremely myopic and without any rational basis. The management are not living in that dorm and do not have the stress of living away from home, so I fail to see what supportable excuse they can have for imposing what appears to be an arbitrary, rulebook-pounding view on those who do. Perhaps the harsh and insensitive way in which they treated a 25-year employee explains a lot about them - I'm thinking that a dog could teach them a lot about humanity.

Too many highly-paid bureaucrats with nothing to do deciding what is "professional".

A therapy animal is extremely important and the higher ups at the University of Rhode Island sound extremely ignorant as well as sounding like bigots. The way this man and his dog have been treated are horrendous and vile! Let this sweet therapy dog do her job!!

The decision to keep Ivy should be left to the students that care about her,not left up to the "higher ups" that probably don't even like dogs!

Help is help, and if it keeps the students who live there from turning to drugs and alcohol to deal with hardships, where is the harm? Serioulsy?

Why would you do this. I really don't understand why the president of an university would order a dog from campus. You should know the befits of dogs in high stress environments. The theroy dog has been a comfort to the students, it just sad so sad.

I think it is good for the students to see Ivy back in the University as these kids will develop more empathy towards animals and fellow human being. Ivy was such a good example for that. Bring her back, please. From London, England, UK

University life can be extremely stressful, Ivy could truly reduce the fall out from this factor.

if the dog brings something positive to all these people, that should be enuough. there is so much negativity already, it would be nice to allow something positive. animals always bring out the best in people.

Ivy needs to be here to help these students adjust to life on campus and help her owner who needs her as well.

If more people were as compassionate, loving and forgiving as dogs, the world would be a much better place. Bring IVY back!
