I don't know Brian personally, but I agree with freedom of speech.

I totally support Brian. Thank you Mike for all you are doing to right this wrong doing!

It's blatantly obvious that some changes need to be made by UCWDC. Their reaction to someone's attempt to provide thoughts and collected information to improve the association is beyond over-the-top! Listen and learn, then discuss, but do not ban someone for trying to improve something that others obviously feel needs correcting! I'm glad that people are speaking out!!

Fixes are long overdue. Thanks Brian.

Wrong to punish a person for trying to improve a process, for trying to make the events available and maybe more affordable to more people.

This man was my coach, mentor, and pro-am dance partner for 13 years. He also coached my son from the ages of 10-13. My son didn’t have a father figure, and Brian filled this role. My son is now a U.S. soldier. I credit Brian for at least part of this for the good example and leadership that he showed my son. He helped both of us during very difficult times in our lives, and I couldn’t be more grateful.

Free Brian. Bad judgement followed with bad decisions have consequences.

If someone in the organization lied to him and he called them out on it, then why is he the one being punished and not them?

I don’t know what he said but I do believe it is dangerous for any organizations to shut out anybody that doesn’t agree with them. The dance community as a whole needs new ideas and leadership. That doesn’t mean we should get rid of all of the old leadership either. If an organization doesn’t evolve they will eventually become extinct.

Let’s keep UCWDC appealing to younger generations. Let’s grow this organization.

I attended the Worlds 20 years ago and swore I would never go again. Line Dancers were treated as nuisances and second class citizens in every way. I wrote a review about the event and was contacted directly by the incoming President who promised things would change. Over the years I gather they have not. Hence now the huge number of line dance only events run by responsive Event Organizers. The UCWDC has lost a potential huge following. My conclusion is that they don't listen and don't seem to care about their line dancers, Brian Barakauskas should be applauded for continuing to try to get changes made. The UCWDC should be grateful to have him as part of their organization.

It's called the 1st Amendment!! Protect it.

Change is necessary for survival and begins by listening to the voices of those who care about the community.

Brian said what many of us have been afraid to say for 30+ years. His comments could have been made back in the 90’s. It should be a wake up call to the organization that they are stuck
