Children are innocent in all this and just need feeding. Ideology must not get in the way of this.

As a secondary school teacher, this is near and dear to my heart. The past 6 months of lockdown have been tough for many and I think it is important that we do not let vulnerable children go hungry and further widen the poverty gap!

No child should be going hungry on any day of the year. Food is a basic human right and it’s so important that we look after our most vulnerable children to ensure they don’t have to go without meals.

The Council must not allow itself to remain aligned with its masters in Whitehall on this occasion. The Government is completely out of touch with the will of the people and is behaving monstrously. We define our society by how we protect and care for those most in need.

Hungry children in term time continue to be hungry in the holidays. Your announcement covers a fraction of the children who need support.
